Hi Peter,

Good luck on your shares. I think there's a good
probability we are heading into an economic recession. As such stock valuations are being reassessed and everything is being taken down a notch or few. I think whatever any of us do, it had better be with a long range view in mind.

Share purchases should always be made with the long term view IMO. As for RATL today (currently off 10% to about 40 after already dropping substantially from its high near 70), I doubt any macroeconomics are pushing the price down. I can't find any details on the Wit Soundview downgrade, but someone is certainly selling shares aggressively (I of course bought more shares today). Rational's growth has been impressive for many quarters running, and I think their long term outlook is excellent. Until we see their tools seriously challenged by a competitor, the growth of the software industry will take care of Rational's sales growth.

One possibility now though is that their main businesses will see suffer from the distraction of catapulse.com and the new content management effort. I expect their efforts there to be well received by customers in time. Maybe I'm in for a rude surprise.

Randy
