Alpha Names Ljubisa Ristic Vice President of Technology and Business Development
Former Motorola Executive Selected to Manage Company's Technology Roadmap
WOBURN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 14, 2000--Alpha Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ: AHAA - news) which produces gallium arsenide (GaAs) integrated circuits, semiconductors and ceramic components for the wireless and broadband communications markets, today announced that Ljubisa (``L.J.'') Ristic has been named to the new position of Vice President, Technology and Business Development.

Mr. Ristic will focus on next-generation product development, joint ventures and strategic alliances. He will create and lead an advanced technology team responsible for identifying and launching new product platforms and processes in the wireless and broadband markets.

``With 25 years of experience in semiconductor technology development, product design and marketing strategies, L.J.'s credentials make him the ideal candidate to manage Alpha's technology roadmap,'' said David Aldrich, the company's president and CEO. ``L.J. brings to Alpha an expansive knowledge of systems and semiconductor technologies in the broadband, optical networks and wireless areas. His energy and enthusiasm for creating innovative technical solutions that add value to our customers will be an important ingredient of our continued success.''

Mr. Ristic, 50, most recently worked as Director of Corporate Business Development for ON Semiconductor, a spin-off of Motorola, where he managed the company's business strategies and led several strategic acquisitions. Prior to ON, Mr. Ristic spent nearly a decade in senior management posts at Motorola, managing the company's manufacturing strategies and new product development.

Between 1985 and 1990, Mr. Ristic taught Electrical Engineering as a professor at the University of Alberta, Canada. He has been granted 15 patents, published more than 80 scientific papers and one book.

A former resident of Scottsdale, Arizona, Mr. Ristic received his BSEE, MSEE and PhD from the University of Nis in the former Yugoslavia and an MBA from Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management, in Glendale, Arizona.
