PSION PLC - KENWOOD to Develop Range of Smartphones Based on Symbian Software

Toronto, Ontario, Nov. 14, 2000 (Market News Publishing via COMTEX) -- It was announced that KENWOOD is to
develop a range of Smartphones based on the Symbian software platform and powered by Intel(r) XScale(tm)
microarchitecture core. The first devices will be released into the Japanese market with W-CDMA capability during 2002, with plans for other international markets in due course.

developing a range of innovative multimedia Smartphones, based on the Symbian platform and Intel's XScale architecture,

Intel recently announced that it was porting the Symbian platform to its Intel XScale microarchitecture, enabling handset
manufacturers to bring Symbian-based devices rapidly to market. The Intel XScale microarchitecture is specifically designed to handle requirements for both ultra-low power and high performance in wireless devices.
Symbian recently held a Developers Expo in London UK where more than 1, 200 attendees heard keynotes from leading
companies who are supporting the Symbian platform. Ericsson, Nokia, Matsushita (Panasonic) and Sony are all developing Symbian-based Smartphones, while Motorola, along with Ericsson, Nokia, Matsushita, Psion and Sanyo are all developing pen- and keyboard-based Communicators based on the Symbian platform.
