I have no such lawyer in the US, and if I did they would not know about HK law. I spoke with the IRS, that has reps in Hong Kong, and they were of no help to me. The HK tax collector has a web page:
info.gov.hk
I send my email to three different people on the web page, and have yet to receive a response. Since I have no plans to travel to HK, it's not really a big problem. But I made a special effort to have my HK tax responsibilites settled back when I was in HK, and am somewhat angry to find out they I still need to pay more. I am very angry with HK telecom. Aside from there outrageous fees, they overcharged me. They refunded me a check months after I returned in the US, in HK dollars, which I couldn't cash in the US. The fee to cash a foreign check is as much as the check itself.
All in all, I must chalk this up to experience in traveling to foreign countries. I'm sure you have had some unpleasant experience traveling to US after living in HK. |
