I disagree with the premise that a hand count is going to be accurate. I think that you interject a human, subjective element into it that stands to swing the vote one way or the other. The Palm Beach Co. situation is a good example of that. In many cases they're advocating a position that seeks to put them in the ballot booth with the voter to try and glean voter intent. Are you going to tell me that is unbiased and stands to be the most accurate?

I am disgusted with the inefficiency of the voting process, and would support federal funding (combined with state matching grants) for a complete overhaul, and standardization of voting across the country. However, that is for future elections.

In the meantime, the machine counted my vote.
