US DVD player sales top 6.5M units with two months left in the year. Latest week is up 215.7% from a year ago........

According to VideoScan’s First Alert Reporting Retailers, for the week ending Nov. 5, 2000, DVD-Video title sales were 1,287,000, down slightly from last week’s record sales for the year of 1,486,000, but still going strong. Year-to-date sales are 37,488,000!

According to the Consumer Electronics Association, for the week ending Nov. 3, 2000, DVD player unit sales to dealers for the week and month were 215,073, down from last week’s sales of 768,381, but still up 215.7 percent over this week’s sales in 1999. Year-to-date sales are 6,544,020!

VCR deck sales for the week and month were 597,185, up 58 percent over 1999 sales and year-to-date sales are 19,602,169, a mere 5.3 percent increase over 1999 sales.

Projection TV sales for the week and month were 18,724, down (-1.9) percent from 1999 sales, and year-to-date sales are 996,997, up 3 percent from 1999 sales.
