You are bounded by that belief, I am not.
X you are simply begging the question and assuming that God does not exist. That is like saying you are bound by gravity, that's nice but I don't recognize the existence of gravity. What if death is the beginning and not the end?

why should one need forgiveness for anything one does, really?
Why indeed, if God does not exist, then we don't, but neither does Hitler.

"They raise me as they have been programmed to do (of course they are programmed in such a sophisticated way, it isn't analogous to computer programming- but I use the word because I can't think of a better one)".
Do you think Hitler was programed to kill Jews? You seem to be saying that you are pre- programed and therefore are not responsible for your actions at least not in an ultimate sense. You Just act as if you have free will and are responsible. That is very handy, but again it assumes there is no body but you to determine responsibility and if you chose not to then who's to say?
Forgiveness is necessary because God exists and we are responsible and answerable to Him for the consequences of our actions just as surely as we would be if we stepped off a building. We are free to choose our actions but not the consequence.
Good day
Greg
