Hi Di, How have you been? My personal opinion FWIW, is that KitchenAid is the best mixer to get. They are priced high, but in this case you are getting quality. I myself own a kitchenAid, that I bought when I graduated from college. That was over (ahem) 12 years ago. It still works like new and is always reliable. It requires just the standard keep it clean and oiled. Now for power, I prefer the "bowl lift", these machines are more like the industry standard, and usually have stronger motors, and larger bowl capabilities. This machine has "arms" that lift the bowl up to the attachment. The higher the wattage the stronger the motor, but unless you plan on using this mixer all day everyday the way a bakery would you can scale down to a lower wattage. I see they have made them quite fancy now with electronic sensors. I don't know anything about that, but you should get at least a 6 quart bowl, and the three important attachments. A paddle for batters, a whip for of course whipping, and the dough hook. Anything else is just extra luxuries for you to pick from. I love my mixer, and it does make baking easier, and quicker. Let me know if you decide, and if you like it. drea |
