Level3 Bankruptcy Consideration/Bondholders:

The CEO is not going to state negative issues that may or may not exist in the future.

Bondholders are the true sign: they are worried about receiving their capital back, not a return on their capital. Bondholders are saying that they perceive a risk with the viability of LVLT.

It appears that everyone wants to ignore thestreet.com's article. Although the writer is quite competent and knowledgable -- in my opinion.

OK: For the sake of argument, we'll toss that one out. We'll assume that the thestree.com' writer is incompetent for the sake of this post.

Can anyone address the following issues:

1) Why are bondholders stating there is a significant risk with the viability of the company? (Keeping in mind that they receive their money back prior to any shareholders.)

2) Value Line (10/6/2000 issue; price at that time: $76) made the following comments:

"...All in all, we think these shares are unsuitable for most investors. The company's bottom line is unlikely to move into positive terrority any time in the foreseeable future. It's balance sheet is extremely leveraged, and this probably won't change until mid-decade since capital spending will likely exceed cash flow through 2003-2005....We've lowered our price targets by about 60%...."

3) Value Line shows a financial strength of a "C++", which is simply horrible.

What I find most disturbing is the reaction that my post received -- both on this thread and via PM. People seem to have anger against those that post opposing views. This "we are right and everyone else is wrong" simply doesn't work or make anybody money.

Has anybody noticed a stock decline, and look for explanations? The CEO isn't the best source for an independent quote. Bondholders historically have been the best source for any equity -- they have their capital (typically more of a conservative nature than equity holdings) at risk.

For what value it is: I live in Denver and know LVLT employees. I don't post insulting, mean-spirited, or meaningless comments.
