Yogi,

What kind of people keep asking for recounts

The alternative is to have your president been elected by statistical noise. Electronic counting machines have an efficiency of 0.99723, ie, they miss couple of votes out of a thousand on the average. That is a lot more than the 300 votes separating the two candidates. The scientific way of resolving this issue would be:

1. to manually recount ALL counties in FL.
2. to set up rules to determine what a particular type of chad means (a vote or not a vote).
3. to argue about different rules in 2 and tabulate the results as a function of the rules.

There could still be a unique winner as a function of different rules in 2 above. Then, you do not have a problem.

Anything less is shortchanging democracy. We never had a situation like this before. A 300 vote difference out of 6 million votes determining the next president of the US. You better count those darn votes as accurately as humanly possible. With as US marshall, a republican and a democrat standing by, I think it can be done very accurately. It can also be done in a matter of weeks. I normally deal with situations much more complicated than this. And we do not end up in court arguing about it.

On topic ... SFY is looking for a bottom. Agreed.
