Intel started shipping processors with 150+ million transistors a couple of years ago. First on a .25u process with HP's Intel fabed CPUs, followed by Intel's own Xeons with 1 & 2Meg L2 cache moving to .18u technology. AMD has never broken the 256K cache barrier and now we have them essentially giving up on Must-tank and throwing in the towel. Meanwhile SMP doesn't work either. They're praying that they can get 2-way SMP working by next summer(that'll be 2 years since they had it working in the lab) but only with dumbed down 256K L2 Palomino's. That will catch them up with where Intel was about 5 years ago, architecturally speaking. AMD has never shipped a device that was SMP capable and the way things are going maybe they never will. Will someone remind us why AMD's bus architecture is so superior?
