Maybe it's a matter of emphasis or focus. Gilder's strength, in my experience, is in analyzing the technology of various companies. He gives scant attention to financial issues, or to marketing and business fundamentals.

I haven't seen more than passing mention by Gilder of G*'s financial position. And that is NOT a complaint. Gilder's assertion is that G*'s technology is acendant. In my view it is almost irrelevant to him on who might benefit from that "ascendancy". We usually assume that if we guess right that a company's technology will be a winner, we as common stockholders will be winners. Obviously, that's not always the case.

My conclusion: Anyone who is reading Gilder should make him only one stop in their investigations.
