But I think you will find it was Benjamin Franklin, and REPUBLIC, not democracy....

Funny thing...while I was out reading and researching tonight, I looked up some quotes from the Founding Fathers --including Benjamin Franklin coming out of the Ratification of the US Constitution meeting...fielding questions, one of which was: "Do we have a monarchy or a republic?"....to which he replied: "A Republic, if we can keep it."
