ADC Closes Record-Breaking Quarter for Singularit.e OSS Suite

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 15, 2000--

Company Gains 22 New Billing, Customer Management,
and Service Assurance Customers Worldwide

ADC (Nasdaq:ADCT: www.adc.com), a leading global supplier of fiber optics, network equipment, software and integration services for broadband multiservice networks, today announced that it recently closed the most successful quarter in its history for the Singularit.e OSS Suite. In its fourth fiscal quarter, ending October 31, 2000, ADC signed 22 contracts for Singularit.e(TM), its suite of operational support system (OSS) products, including real-time convergent billing, customer management and service assurance applications for integrated communications providers (ICPs). The newly-signed contracts range in value from multimillion dollar agreements with established companies to sizable agreements with new entry service providers and have a total value in excess of $50 million.

"It's been an outstanding quarter for us," said Larry Barker, president of ADC's Software Systems Division. "In addition to winning many diverse new clients around the globe, we've established a framework for continuing to grow market share - we added new functionality, created new strategic alliances, and completed performance testing that sets us apart in the marketplace. Singularit.e's real-time convergent billing, customer management, and service assurance solutions are being established as leadership products in virtually every segment of the communications industry."

Twenty-two contracts were signed for convergent billing, integrated customer management or service assurance. Clients signed included Comcast, Comm South Companies, Bazillion, Inc., Pak Telecom Mobile Limited/Ufone, TalkingNets, Inc., Tenzing Communications, Inc., Virgin Mobile Australia, Madison River, Rivien Communications, RioData, and Arbinet-The Exchange, Telfort, Pangean and Global Broadband Inc.

"We teamed with ADC because they offer an integrated solution that delivers broad, flexible functionality that is both supportable and scalable," said Jamie Howard, CEO, Bazillion. "Our mission is to rapidly innovate and deploy personalized, advanced communication products and services, and that requires a solution that is well-defined and gets us to market quickly, while minimizing implementation and ongoing support requirements. Singl.eView(TM) has enabled us to avoid the overly complicated and expensive integration trap associated with multiple vendors, without compromising our OSS quality or requirements."

"We will be implementing very unique business and rating structures so a flexible OSS is critical to our success," said Alan Pellegrini, chief operating officer, Tenzing Communications, the leading provider of email and Internet services in aircraft. "The Singl.eView solution's ability to build, price, and bill for new services in real-time will help differentiate us from our competition."

ADC new clients will be using Singl.eView convergent billing and integrated customer management to support a full range of communications services, including Voice over DSL (Digital Subscriber Line), IP Telephony, ATM, frame relay, wireless voice and data, VPNs and Internet connectivity.

ADC also further strengthened its already world-leading service assurance solution for wireless networks with the launch of Metrica/Chartis(TM) that enables wireless operators to visualize the state of network performance geographically to help maximize network infrastructure and improve quality of service. Singularit.e suite of quality assurance products now support virtually all types of public carrier infrastructure, including GPRS and IP backbone operations.
