Round Rock, Texas, October 10, 2000

Dell, the world's leading direct computer systems company, announced today that it will supply servers, workstations, desktops and notebooks for the more than 350,000 seats and associated networks that will ultimately come under management as part of the Navy and Marine Corps Intranet Contract. Dell is a member of the EDS-led Information Strike Force team, which was awarded the contract on Oct. 6.

"We are excited to be partnering with EDS and other members of the Information Strike Force on this groundbreaking project," said Tom Buchsbaum, vice president and general manager of Dell's federal government business segment. "The team will bring best practices from the commercial sector as well as extensive experience in working with the federal government to supporting the communications capabilities of the Navy and Marine Corps."

This contract is reportedly the largest federal information-technology contract in history and is valued at more than $4.1 billion over five years.
