Yes on Gail Sheehy, too. Never read a book of hers or finished an article, even the one I referenced

And to think I rewrote that sentence several times trying to be really inoffensive and diplomatic so as not to upset you if you were a Sheehylover! I shoulda known-- we are too much alike.

I ALMOST read it all--I got pretty bored at the end when she went into the description of the factory pollution and the flaring. No one denies we have problems in Texas; but oil is what Texas is built on and change comes slowly. I have developed an annoyance recently with those who act as if GW spewed the pollution personally, and that nothing is being done. Easy to criticize, not so easy to effect change in an industry that dominates our economy. Sure, more should have been done.

IN a way I hope GW comes back to Austin--- think of all the things he will accomplish for Texas to prove to the rest of the US they goofed.
