Things are not that black and white. In LA we have a Republican mayor and we're all happy with him. One of our big problems now is the partisan wrangling. Doing away with the EC would make party affiliation less important. That combined with campaign finance reform would make the whole system so much more democractic. In fact, we're not a true democracy at all given the EC system. This mess we're in now proves it. The fact is, one vote in Florida now means more than a thousand votes in Texas. Is that fair?
