I have no idea, how long the acceptance process of the redesign of the present optical system, would take. Industry, acceptance, of an open optical network, without switches, I imagine is more than a few years out. I think funds probably hedge their bets, in the optical networking sector, and own, multiple names, the perceived leaders in each area of the networking mkt./ optical networking mkt. for the 21 century. Of course the core of this network, is optical, the question is when will it be a much more powerful open system, without switches the way Cao visiualizes it. If a world wide open optical network is built in the not too distant future, the question is how much of that global build out will Avanex provide gear for?. One imagines quite alot, as an open optical system was Cao's concept, as far as I know, and his line of optical inventions are designed to run best on an open optical system.
