My view is just the opposite: there should be
no limit on the amount and type of campaign contributions
as long as they are made public immediately with the
identity and affiliation of the donor clearly stated.
I would rather have my candidate give 20 phone calls
to get $1M each time, and then be free to develop
policies, instead of spending years hat in hand
to collect $1K donations in an endless parade of fundraising
dinners.

Freedom rules. Anyone should be able to spend any amount
of money advocating any policy (no matter how ill advised
it may be) and supporting any candidate (even if his last
name is Gore).
