Electro Scientific Gets Orders For Wafer ID Sys From UK Firm PORTLAND, Ore. (Dow Jones)--Electro Scientific Industries Inc. (ESIO) said it received multiple purchase orders for its ScribeRead wafer identification systems from WED, a Plymouth, England-based semiconductor equipment manufacturer. Financial terms were not disclosed. In a press release Tuesday, Electro Scientific said ScribeRead, which runs on the Windows and WindowsNT operating systems, performs automatic OCR, Bar Code and two-dimensional identification reading on silicon wafers. WED develops and makes compact wafer loading, automatic inspection/measurement, macroinspection, wafer sorting and automatic OCR systems. Electro Scientific makes electronic manufacturing products.
