OT--don,

A few years ago I thought it would be nice to hand make from scratch some ravioli with my elderly aunt. We made a day of it. Went to the Italian store, out to lunch and then to her house.

Everything was going along just fine. She was telling stories about Whoppin' Mama, her fat, great aunt who sold liquor by the shot to black guys (thus her name) during Prohibition, Cousin Vito out of Chicago who got shot-up, Uncle Jake (with the two wives) who was deported back to Italy and why we don't talk about the Detroit and New York branches of the family much. Rolling, talking, rolling, talking.

Then after about only 150 or so ravioli, with a huge bowl of filling still in the frig she said, "Now I remember why I stopped doing this 40 years ago." She then asked exactly what the hell was wrong with me and why any modern woman who lived within a 5 min. walk of a bus stop would do anything as remotely ridiculous as this. Then she ordered me back to the store for six boxes of the biggest shells I could find.

Ooops...
