Warren, DownSouth and Coug - you guys were quoted on Marketwatch. Your 15 minutes of fame ...

"It's buying time, according to Warren Gates on Silicon Investor: "Good entry point will also be in the low 70's. However, I've been accumulating in the low 80's because there is a chance we will have a year-end rally. Nov to Jan have been the 'favorable' tech months because of the liquidity coming into the markets. If funds are getting money, I will assume that the biggest of the techs will get the bulk because of the perceived safety factor. The rally in late 1998 confirms this."

Of course, where there's a bull there's a bear, and Coug filled the gentlemanly bearish role quite nicely: "NTAP isn't cheap ... 500-600 P/E, tough comparisons going forward, new competition etc ... priced to perfection as they say. A wonderful company, but WAY too high priced. Like a C series Mercedes ... a perfect auto, but not worth a 100K ... 35-40K is about right."

But the skeptics couldn't shake up DownSouth and his optimistic cronies, despite the heavy selling: "The Network-attached storage (NAS) market is applicable to all external storage in both Windows and UNIX. In that market -- $15-$16B this year. There is an enormous opportunity for us to penetrate that market. Growth rate of NAS is function of how fast we can convert people to this new approach. It is very difficult to predict how fast people will change their views."

BTW, I'm not in yet - afraid of the market. If the market dips, so does NTAP - and I am in. For your all's sake, I hope I don't get that opportunity!

Regards,

Dave
