mepci,<<<Jean: According to IDC: Server OS shipped:
1998: 38% windows, 23% netware, 19% unix, 16% Linux
1999: 38% windows, 19% netware, 15% unix, 24% Linux.
I wouldn't underestimate Linux.
Do you have y2k figures? >>>

According to July 2000 Netcraft Web Server Survey:

Linux 30%
Solaris Unix 16%
Microsoft 28%
Alpha and other Unix 26%

They don't get it. Unix has been around 40 years. Open source OS has appeared on the radar screen for maybe 2 years.

The open source movement is fundamentally changing the way software is developed. Unlike proprietary software that's developed by in-house programmers behind closed doors, Open Source software is developed, tested, improved and evolved in the open light of day, collaboratively. Unlike proprietary software which is upgraded when Bill Gates and Scott MeNealy thinks it is most advatageous to their P&L, Open Source software is continually upgraded.

The Open Source Movement is to an Open Society as Proprietary Software is to a Closed and Dictatorial Society.

The movement to Open Source is inevitable. The handwriting is on the wall.

You have nothing to lose but the fees that you pay to Microsoft and Sun Microsystems.
