Applied Materials (AMAT) 42 3/4 +1 5/16: -- Update -- Other tidbits
from conference call.... in Q4, had 43 customers with orders over $10 mln,
19 customers with orders over $50 mln, and 8 customers with orders over
$100 mln; 107% jump in inventories reflects shipment of 300mm tools and
an increase in finished goods as AMAT held off on shipping tools to Korean
customers that didn't have the necessary financing arranged; said near-term
visibility is limited for itself, and the industry, due to uncertainty surrounding
rates, the presidential election, oil prices, global GDP growth, and
fluctuation in currency markets; AMAT bought back approximately 2.1 mln
shares in Q4; believes it could have annual sales of $20 bln within 3-5
years... AMAT currently up 9/16.
