Rob, my folks are from Gottschee which before WWI was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, then during WWII Hitler claimed it, then it was part of Yugoslavia and it is now part of independent Slovenia. Now of course, very few original Gottscheers live there - they and their descendants are scattered all over. Many in Toronto, Kitchener, New York, Pennsylvania. Big picnics every year.
