Because the law gives deadlines. She is following the law.

You and I both know this is an excuse to get more votes for Al Gore. He requested a recount according to FL law. He lost again (so far - there is still the absentee ballot to be counted.)

Had she gone ahead, it would be a slap in the face of state law - opening a can of worms for every election to be faced with litigation.

I wonder what arguments Al Gore would be using if he were winning by 300 votes.
