Thursday November 16, 7:30 am Eastern Time Press Release eNetSecure Selects Blue Wave Systems ComStruct for Latest Telecommunications Security System CARROLLTON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 16, 2000--Blue Wave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:BWSI - news) has announced that eNetSecure Inc., a leading provider of scalable network security solutions and a subsidiary of Applied Signal Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:APSG - news), is using its ComStruct(TM) building blocks for communications processing in its new telecommunications security system.
The Model 2600 Telecommunications Intrusion Detection System (TIDS), also known as IceMon, detects unauthorized network access through computer-to-computer modems behind the network firewall and will be used in both the public and private sectors to provide comprehensive monitoring of breaches in network security.
eNetSecure is using the ComStruct PCI/C6400 communications processing platform in this new system -- one of the first commercially available products that provides monitoring of dial-up traffic, which is often used by computer intruders or hackers as a 'back door' into the network. The robust Model 2600 security system is also expandable and can evolve to defeat new forms of intrusion attempts via high-speed Internet attacks and other data transfer formats. Blue Wave Systems revenue from eNetSecure exceeds $250,000 to date.
``Using ComStruct enabled us to develop an entry-level system based on the PCI platform with full expandability to the high-density, carrier-class CompactPCI® platform,'' said Don Halsey, Program Manager at eNetSecure. ``As both platforms share a common architecture, Blue Wave Systems has delivered a scalable and flexible solution with a much simpler migration path.''
``The eNetSecure system represents yet another application area benefiting from the power and flexibility of the ComStruct line,'' said Kevin Parslow, executive vice president for Blue Wave Systems. ``With the continuing evolution of the converged network, flexible security systems such as the Model 2600 will become increasingly important.''
Frost & Sullivan project the U.S. intrusion detection market to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate of 61 per cent, according to an April 2000 report. The market researcher forecasts that the market was worth $62.3 million in 1999 and that revenues will grow to $1.71 billion in 2006.
Blue Wave Systems' ComStruct is a set of modular and scalable communications processing building blocks that includes hardware, software and DSP resources. ComStruct enables telecom infrastructure equipment manufacturers to develop, test and deploy carrier-class wireless and wireline technology for applications ranging from 3G wireless to Voice over IP.
Optimized for high-density processing, the PCI/C6400 offers a combination of up to four 200-MHz Texas Instruments TMS320C6201 processors, providing a peak processing power of 6400 MIPS. The board provides network interfaces including a dedicated real-time system controller in a single slot. The PCI/C6400 has the same architecture as Blue Wave's ComStruct CPCI/C6400 board, providing a clear application migration path between smaller-scale PCI-based systems and larger-scale, high-density CompactPCI based systems.
