SemiBull, I think you are in denial. You have to recognize what the bursting of a speculative tech bubble, the over tightening by the FED and a four fold increase in oil prices can do to wreck the economy. That is exactly what happened. The US economy is heading into the toilet. Just look at the bad loan news coming out this past week. Here's some more news that should clarify what is going on:

8:28 ET Micron Tech (MU) 35: Salomon Smith Barney slashing its revenue forecasts due to
continuing DRAM pricing pressure; cuts 2001 view to $1.55 from $4.60 and 2002 to $3.33 from
$6.00; next qtr (Q1) estimate lowered to $0.56 from $0.91. Firm's new price target is $45, down
from $70.
