See following post for a summary of Iridium constellation status. Message 14592969 IMO, the 66 satellite constellation plus at least 10 spares are operational. That's out of a total of 88 satellites launched. There are at least 10 hard failures out of the 88, plus, probably, an additional satellite that was being moved out of its operational orbit. The investment group was said by the unsuccessful bidders to include former insiders, and is essentially funded by Motorola, so it's a pretty colorful deal....I'm a little surprised it was allowed to go through, and rather quickly at that.
