Updated 12:49 PM ET November 13, 2000

NEW YORK & BRONX, N.Y. (ENTERTAINMENT WIRE) - The Institute for Music and Neurologic
Function will present the first Music Has Power Awards (TM) on November 27 at the Millennium
Broadway Hotel and the adjacent Hudson Theater in New York City. Broadway icon Betty Buckley will
serve as host for the evening, sharing Dinner Co-Chair duties with Kitty Carlisle Hart.

Rhythm legend Mickey Hart, best known as GRAMMY(R)-winning Grateful Dead drummer and author of
books on the therapeutic effects of rhythm, will open the evening's celebration by leading the entire audience
in an inspiring drum circle.

Additional performances include GRAMMY-winner Julie Gold, who will sing her 1990 Song of the Year,
"From A Distance," recorded by Bette Midler, and GRAMMY-nominated classical-crossover guitarist
Sharon Isbin, among others. Also scheduled to perform is Emmy-nominated, stage and character film actor
Dominic Chianese, best known as Uncle Junior on HBO's hit show, "The Sopranos."

The Institute for Music and Neurologic Function will honor Michael Greene, President/CEO of the
Recording Academy(R) and National Corporate Spokesperson for the American Music Therapy Association
and Dr. Oliver Sacks, the distinguished neurologist, lecturer, prolific author and autobiographical subject of
the Oscar-nominated movie "Awakenings" as the first recipients of the Music Has Power Awards(TM). They
will both be recognized for their significant accomplishments in bringing a new understanding to the use of
the power of music to awaken and heal.

The funds raised through the Music Has Power Awards support patient care along with clinical and
scientific research. The Institute for Music and Neurologic Function is an affiliate of the Beth Abraham
Family of Health Services based in the Bronx, which provides health-based services.

Ticket packages range from $3,000 - $5,000, while special VIP seats are available for $500 each. Those
