Why Emulex will be over $200 by the end of the month.

The following events could be catalysts for Emulex to continue its run and be over $200 by the end of this month:

1. EMLX is up today due to a Buy coverage on BRCD (up over $5.50 today) by Banc of America Securites. Nasdaq is down over 70 points and EMLX and BRCD are both up. A quote from the analyst, "The fabric switch business is a high-growth market opportunity, expected to grow from $235 million in 1999 to $3 billion in 2003"

2. The shareholders meeting today will confirm the 2 for 1 stock split that the board approved several weeks ago. The date will be set, probably for next week. This announcement should come out later today.

3. BRCD is scheduled to announce earnings on Nov. 29th. Their last earnings report blew away estimates by over 23%. This will help lift the entire sector.

As for valuations, compare BRCD's and EMLX's fundamentals:

BRCD:
Revenue - $227 Million
Market cap - $25 Billion

EMLX:
Revenue - $166 million
Market cap - $6 Billion

Conclusion: EMLX is undervalued based on its peers and we should see EMLX move up significantly in the next several weeks.

This is the only tech sector that has not been hit unlike others such as semis, fiber optics, PC's. Investors will come to this sector for shelter and growth.
