I think this is quite an unfair piece. It appears many of the points are either taken out of context or are likely gross distortions. For example, the charge of anti-Semitism is based upon three things that, when taken alone, mean very little.

Bush’s ending of an engagement to a woman whose Jewish stepfather was disliked by the family may have had nothing to do with the stepfather’s ethnicity. The stepfather may have been an extraordinary jerk, as many people are.

Bush’s belief that ‘there is no place in heaven for anyone who doesn’t accept Jesus Christ as his "personal savior"’ is not an anti-Semitic sentiment. It is an anti-Heathen sentiment. I myself embrace it, while taking great pleasure in the fact heaven will contain a great many Semitic believers in Christ.

Lastly, Bush’s alleged joke that the first thing he would say to his Jewish hosts in Israel is that they were all "going to hell" is but a crass joke based upon his belief that no one will see heaven unless they accept Christ. It is not an anti-Semitic joke because many Semites are believers. Again, it is an anti-Heathen joke aimed at a group of Semites that notoriously reject Christ. I personally would not have made the joke, but I can scarcely see the anti-Semitism in it.

The other items in the piece appear just as specious. It seems as if the author longs to maliciously read information into mere surface facts, and I think it ruins his credibility.
