FD,

That's all well and good... however, that's not the "argument" you proffered earlier. This is what you said.

To rruff don't forget you are buying a 10 billion optical company for 100 billion dollars less whatever multiple the rest of the company is worth.

I'm assuming the rest of the company is not worth that much,as i think the revenue from those businesses will be falling going forward.

Nothing in there about multiples.. yet a weak attempt to suggest that NT was only an optical company. That said, a company growing at 30%+ top line and trading at 4 x sales isn't really a multiple issue - not in this market.

You understand the facts that you understand rock solid... but you don't know what you don't know.... I think perhaps you should broaden your understanding of the communications market and the companies within it before you post unsupportable comments... How about reading the first 10 or 20 pages of the 10K before you get to the financials. That would be a worthwhile start.... and if you don't understand something - just ask. There is no top tier communications company that will trade at even a 30PE in the next few years - so long at earnings acceleration continues at 30%+ which is where it's at.... Stop looking at trailing PE - it doesn't wash in growth markets. And just to support my claims about your ignorance of the communications market you attempt to draw an anology to twinlabs. Get real... A small retail drug company has no relation whatsoever to the communications market. And there in lies the issue... you don't understand markets and attempt to bean count using the same metrics.

Tell you what.. perhaps you'd be better off following the financial, cyclical, retail, and healthcare sectors... that's where this kind of stuff works. It's clear that you don't understand the difference betweeen communications company's versus company's that are exposed to PC sector, versus company's exposed to platform or embedded s/w issues... etc... TO many ignorant people like yourself think the tech sector is homogenous... it is not. Go do some homework. Sheesh.. the boneheads we get on SI.... just amazes me.
