Bellcore patents; I took a look at just one, #6132477 and was jolted upright. This patent, issued just weeks ago, proposes a completely different method of rolling and slicing Lithium polymer cell material. Instead of heating, rolling and laminating strips of material, this new technique describes fabrication of large laminated master sheets which are cut to the requisite size(s) using a transverse cutting technique. Essentially, a "cookie cutter". This method, which Valence has probably been aware of for awhile,(the patent application was submitted a year ago) would require entirely different equipment for the final rolling, lamination and slicing. IMO, of course.
