Chris Matthews, of "Hardball" just made the remark that neither President would have a public mandate, and they would be ruled by the "moderate" branches of both parties.

He just asked a moderate Republican, how the Republican Party is going to deal with it's more radical group.

Then the show was interrupted, and a Democrat announcement broke in.

I hope that Chris is correct and that the radical conservative power is tempered by the level headed moderates in both parties.

Perhaps neither Gore or Bush will lead, and they will follow a middle of the road administration, so they have a chance to be re-elected in four years. OTOH, Heaven help us if something blows up overseas.
