All that I and most Americans care about is that the winner of the election really was elected. A hand count is the best way to determine this fact with as close to certainty as is possible. The GOP spin about hand counts being inferior to machine counts is some pretty scary rhetoric that, if accepted, would lead to some pretty dark days for human beings. Let's say you get your blood pressure checked by a machine, the kind they have in the grocery store. If it told you you had dangerously high blood pressure and you ran the same test again and you received the same result would you just accept that machines are infallible and lay yourself down in your final resting place? No, you would seek the advice of a doctor like any rational human being. If he told you that your were fine and that machine had been wrong would you call the doctor a liar? Of course not.

If Gore was behaving as badly as Bush I would be the first to criticize him.
