Mr horn, to reply to your questions:
<<<1. What if you are wrong?>>>
<<<B. How do you know you are right?>>>

It seems to me that there is no way to be 'wrong' or 'right' irt the personhood of the fetus. It is completely a matter of personal and unproveable opinion.
---All the more reason to Not allow gvnmnt to carve an opinion into stone and call it a fact. These matters of personal belief are not a proper area for gvnmnt action.

<<<Oh and one more thing. What's this got to do with my overtaxation? >>>>

Well, not a lot. <G> But gvnmnt does use our tax $s to fund its intrusiveness. And as that intrusiveness grows and is accepted as proper, more funds will be needed to enforce the new laws that will come.

<<"I'm the first to say to Government, "get out of my way and out of my life." But there has to be a point where they are involved to some extent....>>>

I'm not so sure of that as you. I think gvnmnt should be strictly a service provider. Repair the roads; Defend the borders; Protect property; That sort of thing. I think it's a big mistake to get gvnmnt involved in making and enforcing moral judgements. It's tempting to turn gvnmnt to that purpose, I suppose. There is the necessity for courts to make judgements and impose punishments for crimes like robbery and such. The movement into gvnmnt making judgements and imposing punishments for 'crimes' that ought to be imo strictly personal/family matters is evidently a very easy one to cross without many folks even noticing. But I don't want my service providers imposing their judgements on me. I don't want my plumber telling me I have to eat less red meat. I don't want the auto mechanic telling me I must have a hat on if the temperature is below 30F, and I don't want the darned gvnmnt telling me how I should handle my reproductive functions or how my family should operate.

To me this is simply a matter of how the relationship between the individual and the gvnmnt is perceived. As I stated previously, people like to use gvnmnt as a tool to enforce their moral judgements on others. To do this they must take the position that gvnmnt has a right to impose moral judgements. This empowers gvnmnt far beyond its proper status, imo. I don't see gvnmnt's proper place as being above me. It's supposed to be a servant. We're treating the servants like our masters and it will not come out well, imo.
