Joe,,,Re..Unless there is some plea bargain among all the parties involved to basically suspend Florid laws and make up new ones. Even if all this happened, it only takes 1 individual to challenge it all the way to supreme court, and there is no way supreme court can allow a wholesale disregard of the laws on the books.
I don't like AL anymore than you do, but if GW wins by what looks like deceptive practices, it will seriously harm GW and the republican party. If state law allows a recount, then considering the importance of the election, time constraints are inconsequential compared to the gravity of the outcome. Lets quit hiding behind technicalities. Certainly, we can cheat as much as they can. Lets at least make it look like a honest count, count all of FL. accept the result, honor the winner, and plot to win the next one if we lose, and look like honest victors if we win. The appearance of having something to hide will negate any positive effects a win would gain; such that the republican party could lose big time in 2004. |
