does Robot know this? Tecumseh's curse:
Chief Tecumseh, a Shawnee Indian, was born near the Mad River in Ohio
about A.D. 1768 and was killed in battle on Oct. 5, 1813. He fought the
Americans as a young man and lost his father and two of his brothers
to the whites at the Battle of Fallen Timbers ( 1794 ) . As a consequence
of an ensuing Treaty of Grenville ( 1795 ) , the Indians made a substantial
cession of land north of the Ohio River. Between, 1802 and 1809, governor
of the new Indiana Territory Wm. Henry Harrison secured an additional
cession of 33 million acres of Indian land north of the Ohio ( present day
Ohio and Indiana ) . Aided and inspired by his TWIN brother Tenskwatawa
aka "the Prophet," Tecumseh announced that divine messages had instructed
that the Indians could recover their lands and integrity by abstaining
from alcohol and other white perversions, deposing the peace chiefs,
ceasing intertribal warfare, and uniting against the common white
invader. However, on NOVEMBER 7, 1811 while Tecumseh was recruiting
southern tribes, the Prophet and his warriors attacked Gen. Wm. Henry
Harrison's forces at the Tippecanoe River in Indiana and were defeated
and dispersed. The Prophet was killed in the battle. Tecumseh fled to
British Canada. Tecumseh himself died fighting on the British side, who
themselves were fighting the Americans during the War of 1812, at the
battle of the Thames in Ontario on Oct. 5, 1813.
Before he died, Chief Tecumseh put a curse on U.S. Presidents elected in
a year ending in "0". The first man elected in a zero year after the
curse was Gen Wm. Henry Harrison, Tecumseh's mortal enemy, elected in
1840. President Harrison survived precisely one month in office, March 4,
1841 to April 4, 1841, and was succeeded by Vice President Tyler.
Seven successive presidents elected in a zero year died in office as
foretold by Chief Tecumseh. They are Wm. Harrison ( elected 1840 ) ,
A. Lincoln ( 1860 ) , J. Garfield ( 1880 ) , Wm. McKinley ( 1900 ) ,
Warren Harding ( 1920 ) , F.D. Roosevelt ( 1940 ) , J.F.Kennedy ( 1960 ) .
Ronald Reagan, elected in the year 1980, survived an assassination
attempt.
The latest Presidential election day was November 7, 2000. |
