Here you go Dan . How did you know I would be looking for this tonight? Great results. I haven't bought any stock yet but I am going to. You should have a look at the Energy Conversion Devices site if you want a little high risk excitement in your life. Jacques

NEWS RELEASE TRANSMITTED BY CANADIAN CORPORATE NEWS FOR: FAIRSTAR EXPLORATIONS INC. ME;TSE SYMBOL: FFR MAY 27, 1997 Fairstar Intersects New High Grade Gold at the Fenelon "A" Gold Project in Northwestern Quebec MONTREAL, QUEBEC--Fairstar Explorations Inc. ("Fairstar") has recently completed a very successful 1996/97 winter exploration program at the Fenelon "A" Gold Project in northwestern Quebec. The 77 hole, 15,866 metre diamond drilling campaign, supervised by Geospex Sciences Inc., was intended to investigate the main Discovery Zone in more detail, and to explore new targets elsewhere on the property. Within the Discovery Zone area, thirty-eight (38) holes totalling 6,496 metres were targeted to accomplish the following: - Delineate the extent of gold mineralization. - In-fill the pre-existing drill grid on an approximate 25 metre hole spacing basis. - Provide further samples to assess the nugget effect. - Improve the understanding of the geometry of the mineralised zones. The more significant uncut gold intersections from the latest drill campaign are as follows: /T/ DIAMOND INTERVAL (m) CORE LENGTH GRADE DRILL Techni-Lab S.G.B. The new model of the Discovery Zone greatly enhances the understanding of its structure and geology, thus facilitating the task of extending the zone to depth and along strike. At the present time, the mineralised zone has been investigated in detail over a 250 metre strike length and to a depth of some 200 metres. In addition to this diamond drilling, a geotechnical investigation was carried out to test the depth and nature of the shallow overburden covering the Discovery Zone. This work included a detailed seismic refraction survey and five (5) holes drilled specifically to test the physical characteristics of the overburden. The results of the above diamond drilling, in conjunction with data from previous years drilling campaigns, will permit a resource calculation expected to be completed in June, 1997. A crucial aspect of the calculation will be to assess the cutting procedures to be applied to high grade gold intersections. This resource estimate, coupled with the geotechnical investigation, will provide important elements for a pre-feasibility study to assess the viability of developing the deposit and the most favourable development concept. In terms of the exploration campaign, following extension of the grids and further induced polarisation and magnetometer surveys, thirty-nine (39) holes, totalling 9,370 metres, tested various anomalies. This exploration drilling outside the Discovery Zone has served to eliminate many potential areas and to focus on two new sectors. On the GAP Grid, located 1.5 kilometres southwest of the Discovery Zone, hole FA97-157 intersected 20.0 g/t gold over 0.4 metres, and in the area of the NS Grid, approximately 1.5 kilometres east of the Discovery Zone, hole FA97-173 cut 7.0 g/t gold over 0.3 metres. The Fenelon "A" Gold Project is located approximately 50 kilometres east of the Detour Lake Mine along the extension of the Detour Lake Fault. The Fenelon discovery is the most significant gold find along this structure since the Detour Lake Mine started production in 1983. Fairstar's 100 percent funding of the $1.9 million dollar exploration program will result in its working interest in the project increasing from approximately 54 percent to greater than 60 percent. Fairstar Explorations Inc., symbol FFR, is a junior mining exploration Company whose shares are listed on the Montreal and Toronto Stock Exchanges. The Company, with its head office in Montreal, is actively exploring several gold properties in Ghana, West Africa, and the Casa Berardi area of Quebec, Canada. -30- |
