COMDEX Fall 2000

Booth L6430

RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 15, 2000--Vingage Corporation (COMDEX Booth L6430), a leading technology firm that is changing how companies manage and deliver video over the Internet, today announced it has extended its support for streaming video formats within mobile devices to the Palm OS through a licensing agreement with Firepad, Inc., a leading provider of software enabling rich content on handheld devices.

Vingage presently supports all standard streaming video formats for viewing video over the Internet and has moved swiftly to incorporate additional format capacities for mobile devices.

"Our vision is to support the delivery of IP video to any type of device from low bandwidth mobile products to high bandwidth home set top devices," said Daniel Schiappa, President and CEO of Vingage. "The capabilities for supporting video viewed within mobile devices, such as Firepad's format for the Palm operating system, serve as a natural complement to the pioneering technologies behind the growing uses of wireless video applications. These new platforms for delivering video are a perfect example of where the Vingage Video Server is changing how companies manage and deliver video."

Since the Vingage Video Server stores a single high quality file, content providers using the server will be able to "turn on" the Firepad file format and have their entire video library instantly ready to be delivered to an end user's Palm device.

This is accomplished through real time transcoding of a single file and transparent user identification, the core of Vingage's server. Further, content providers will significantly reduce the costs and time associated with re-encoding video to support these new formats.

"The wireless industry is on the verge of streaming large amounts of video content across multiple formats and devices. We look forward to working with Vingage to provide our handheld video solution and service for their customers," said Kenneth J. Marshall, President and Chief Operating Officer of Firepad, Inc.
