Ascher acknowledges that Interactive Brokers, like most other brokerage firms, accepts payment for order flow. But he insists that it is not a big deal for his firm.

Very interesting, especially since I was told by an IB rep that they did not sell order flow. Things do change, and I am actually not anti-order flow because it oftem comes with favorable treatment for client orders, such as auto-execution, something that IB customers enjoyed briefly with direct access to MASH and then SRWD for Nasdaq stocks. But if orders are being routed to specific MMs based on payment rather than getting best executions for IB's clients, this is not good. I would like to know specifically in which markets order flow is being sold.
