John Re..Even if the machines missed 10,000 votes, 1 in every 60, it is extremely unlikely that the results would change by more than 200 votes. That's just the laws of statistics, sorry harry. In fact, I did a spreadsheet simulation, and in 30 trials the biggest gain for Gore was 210 votes.

John, you forget, I am also a republican. However, I doubt if PB county hand counts their county and AL picks up 400 votes, that Harris will be able to withstand the charges of corruption. If GW wins, it has to be because he not only won the recounted votes but also the hand counted votes. If the Dems recount their counties, the rep. should hand count recount theirs and count their pregant chads the same way the dems do. So what? Statistically the republicans should still win. And if GW loses, (maybe he actually did lose);he should shake the hand of the winner, and start plotting the next campaign. If GW won because Harris refused to certify PB; this recount will hang like an albatross around his neck and eliminate any mandate he could have had. He will be a lame duck president and the republicans would lose big in 2004, because of the stench.
