MONTREAL, Nov. 15 /CNW/ - Wireless2net Inc. has submitted a formal application to Industry Canada to enter the Third Generation Personal Communications Services (3G PCS), 2GHz Spectrum Auction in January 2001. Wireless2net Inc. is majority owned by Wispra Inc., with a significant minority stake owned by itemus inc. (TSE:ITM, OTCBB:ITMUF) "3G PCS was built to exploit the exciting personal and business applications that will be rolling out over the next couple of years," said Chris Scatliff, Chairman of the Board for Wireless2net and W2N. "itemus has focused its business model on developing 'next generation' mobile business and rich media technologies that will make 3G wireless an unparalleled experience. Wireless2net's prospective 3G wireless network will perfectly complement itemus' Internet Operating model". Winning spectrum in the Canadian PCS auction sets the stage for W2N to introduce 3G PCS to Canadian businesses. W2N intends to combine 3G wireless technology with network services, portal services and WISP (Wireless Internet Service Provider) services that ensure a new level of convenient, rich and effective mobile commerce. "W2N is positioned to win PCS spectrum and implement emerging wireless Internet services on new 3G network technology in Canada," stated Joe Church, President, and CEO of both Wireless2net and W2N, and founder of Wispra. "Canadians will benefit from our world class services while the telecommunications industry itself will benefit as it takes Canadian 3G technology to the enormous worldwide wireless Internet market."
