Watch4me/COGNICASE to Offer Internet and Wireless Services to General Trust of Canada Customers
MONTREAL, CANADA--NOVEMBER 17, 2000 - 08:30 EST General Trust of Canada has selected Watch4me Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of COGNICASE Inc. (Nasdaq: "COGI"), for the development, implementation and hosting of its transactional Web site for specialized mutual funds. The agreement has an initial term of four years.
The new transactional site, also referred to as a portal, will allow for a range of leading-edge electronic services to be delivered to corporate clients and members of organizations whose financial portfolios are managed by General Trust of Canada. These services will initially be offered beginning February 2001, to members of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec who partake in the FERIQUE fund. They will have access to the new site and will be able to transact in their personal investment accounts through the Internet.
The Watch4me technology will allow fund participants to set up personal rules to notify them of fluctuations in their FERIQUE investment vehicles and stock quotes on the main North American exchanges via e-mail, voice mail or to wireless devices.
"The vitality of the Fonds FERIQUE reflects the dynamism of its partners. This is demonstrated in the implementation of this transactional Internet site offering intelligent electronic services for notification and cash management. This also contributes to the quality and user-friendliness of the services offered to our members," said Pierre Desjardins, Chairman of the Board of Gestion FERIQUE and President of General Trust of Canada.
"The particular approach and technology of Watch4me allow us to extend our reach and increase the efficiency of the services offered to our professional customer base. General Trust of Canada plans to offer the portal's services to other organizations and professional associations," added Pierre Desbiens. "We are in a position to offer our customers secure access to their financial information wherever they are. More importantly, we are putting at their disposal a proactive vehicle for permanent and timely communication that is tailored to their preferences."
"As Internet and Wireless technologies converge, the integration of the Watch4me technology into the business strategy of an institution as well-known as General Trust of Canada demonstrates the relevance and value of our technology for the coming years. We are pleased to contribute in such a unique way to the Trust's electronic services." concluded Paul Forostowsky, President of Watch4me Inc.
