Inertia. Inertia. Inertia. The three keys to success for brands without substance. I know plenty of people who are anything but dumb but retain their aol accounts. They even agree the service is bad. Why do they stay? Email works and it's simple if somewhat unreliable. Learning the internet takes too much time for many smart people who use their intellectual bandwidth elsewhere. In short, if you just need a mailbox, a 14.4 modem and AOL will do. No worries about keeping up with the technology curve. This board is populated by people who use some % of their smarts to stay technically current. That is not reflective of the majority of Americans, on or offline. I am an ex-aol-short. No sour grapes, but not fighting the tape anymore. There are just as many "dumb" investors as there are AOL users... this mania will go on for a good while longer. Don't be surprised if AOL makes a new all-time high before it finds a more "deserved" valuation... Just 2Cents.
