I'm sure there's much, much more if you wanted to really look into it, that's just the first couple of things that showed up in a quick search. Jim Baker later tried to hang Glaspie out to dry on that one, as if a career diplomat would be going off and cutting a deal with Saddam without very specific directions from Washington. I guess the line was supposed to be that nobody in Washington cared about Middle East politics, so the local ambassadors were left to run the show on their own.
