<<Actually and oddly enuf, the production sequence is 9N, 2N, 8N so the 8N should have all the bells and whistles. >>
Didn't know that. I've had 2 neighbors with the 8s but no 2s or 9s. At a stable they had an 8 with a loader that had come with power steering that they removed to add the loader. Who knows when that power steering was added.
<<Maybe if you stomp on the brake on one side or the other it'll help considerably.>>
I used to disk up some bottom ground with a 706. Brakes were the only way to turn it as the front kind of bounced along.
<<I would want a rear mower, brush hog, or whatever.>>
Getting one of those on is a lot easier if you can work the holding arms without the PTO turning. Be damn careful around that PTO, they like to grab loose clothing and break bones.
<<Ns, 60 year old beauts. They seem sort of like VW Bugs in the Tractor world. Ubiquitous, hardy, reliable, simple, with plenty of available parts to keep 'em going. What other older tractors are in that class?>>
Hs and Ms. Still a lot of those around but they do have the tricycle fronts and are easy to roll. After market companies are making parts for all three.
Price depends on where you're at. A lot of guys go to Midwest auctions and haul old tractors across the country. One thing to check is the oil. If it looks milky that's a warning sign. |
