Here’s the spin that's being pumped out – eg. from WSJ front page:

The judge ruled Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris, a Republican, had the legal authority to enforce the Nov. 14 deadline for counting Florida ballots. That deadline is set out in state law, but Democrats argued that Ms. Harris had flexibility in deciding whether some counties needed more time.

See, as explained in the WSJ’s own editorial page this morning (apparently not read by the front page staff) Mrs. Harris actually had NO authority NOT to enforce the deadline. (Also notice they HAD to put the fact she’s a Republican in there).

The incorrect insinuation is that she could have accepted the amended balloting if she'd wanted to but – she’s a Republican so duh.
