It is absurd to have all these counties continue to recount the vote by hand and yet not have the vote counted. Is that good for the country? The way this thing is headed is that Gore will probably pick up the necessary votes he needs to beat Bush in Florida by a hand recount but the votes won't count. That doesn't sound like a healthy situation to me. Actually, it is has quite dangerous implications down the road.

Why are these decisions of the courts thus far permitting the recount by hand yet not permitting the results of the recount to count?

If the courts permit the counties to recount the vote by hand, then the recount should count. Otherwise, tell them not to recount the vote by hand. I think the US Supreme Court will allow the recount to count; for otherwise you may have anarchy in this country and a complete loss of confidence in government. I think people here should try not to be so partisan. What is taking place now is very bad for this country. Should the Republican Secretary of State of Florida determine the outcome of this election? Why did the courts reject her motion to prevent a recount by hand? Is this Secretary of State God?

The law permits a recount by hand. But the recount need not count. Why is there a recount by hand taking place then? What is the purpose of doing anything if the result of the action means nothing? There is something very wrong here.
